bumps on my chickens eyes and beaks and eye swollen shut! has anyone seen this?

hi ppl
i know this is an old post, i know of my gran use to put ordinary shoe polish over the bumps on the eyes and beaks and they use to get better after a few weeks, wella few did die, but manny came around.....
and another trick for the scaly legs is to use ordinary old motor oil, and a week later all scales are new again...i tried this myself and it worked.
x2 Burnt motor oil works well for mange on dogs too.

Ok, I have the same problem (similiar to the picture above, just on chicks) a few months ago I had one of our younger Roos with an eye issue, almost like it was a scab, after a week or two, we just pulled it off and he was totally fine.. But now we have 6 chicks about 5-6 weeks old, and all of them are getting swollen shut eyes and I don't know what to do, we've already lost a couple, I've tried a warm washcloth to see if I could remove some of the goopy-ness.. But now some of them seem almost like little tumors around their eyes.. All are still eating an drinking as of now, but I'm not sure what my next step is or how long my window of opportunity is, any advice helps, please an thank you!

That sounds a lot like Mycoplasma gallisepticum. The next most likely culprit is Chlamydia, especially if there are other symptoms.

I see this is an old thread but has recent posts. I have a silkie that just died from something similar. Here is a pic. Can someone tell me what this is please??

Is this bird still alive or is this the one that died? Looks like it could be pox, but maybe that's because I have a bunch with pox, so everything looks like pox to me, lol.

If he is still alive, check the inside of his mouth for yellow plaque/pus.
