Hot water and Epsom salts help, but time is the only cure. I knelt in a nest of chiggers once and the hottest bath and Epsom salt really helped.
I think the heat helps to denature the proteins that cause the allergic reaction.

I really liked it up north. The cool air, the higher altitudes- no sinus pain for the first time in six years-... only saw one insect and it was a praying mantis.
and they have apples. Real apples hanging from trees. fresh ones.

Although I did have and orange up there, and it was as awful as the apples they send us. I suppose in order for the fruit to ship and be in any kind of shape to be purchased, it has to be picked green and they never fully recover.

Eggy, we have our share of skeeters up here as well, but they do hibernate at night.

I have used smashed plantain leaves on bites before and also witch hazel. Rubbing alcohol would work, might sting. Green tea bags?
I need coffee and it is now done brewing......

Witch Hazel and rubbing alcohol helps some.
The vet had to be called back out this morning, they are working a small car by now.

Scott, sorry the horse isn't better. Sheesh, when they start in on a small house, we might have to take up a collection for you.

So do I! She is spending the next few days at the vets place for ICU kind of care, hoping she don't have to have surgery.

Aw Scott, hope she will improve. Maybe you could start a "Go fund HER." People like to help animals.

Bring on the coffee! Woke up with a start hearing commotion in the chicken pen. I thought a hen was caught in the hot wire trying to sneak out for a bite but no, it was a Goshawk sneaking in for a bite. All is well. Sure do miss the old Roo!

It is worrisome. I do hope she'll recover quickly. Do they think it s a blockage or a twist -kink?
