BYC Café

Hi all,

We are finally starting to cool down out here, lol. The past few day have been around the 83F mark, much better than the 105F days we were having a run of! Even the chickens look relieved, none of them are broody (first time in months!) but five are going through a hard moult. It's their first and most of them have lost their tails - they look so funny! Even the rooster lost all his sickles, and looks like a fat little man with no tail!

Work yesterday went well, and today I am up early again for an appointment with my clinic. Time to see if all the drugs they have had me on have encouraged my body to start making follicles for retrieval. I am very nervous and a bit scared, but hubby assures me if it hasn't worked we will just start over again with the injections and pills etc. I must say though, if feeling terrible is anything to go by I must have a whole basket of follicles ready to go in there!

Wish me luck everyone!

Good to know! I was browsing the flyer on the flipp app (shows flyers from newspapers) and it was in the most recent target ad for $3.29. I have a leftover milo packet to go with it. Yay!

Hi all

Important things first - Tim Tams. My word, YES they are good! They are my favourite biscuit and I actually just bought two family sized packets of them myself! Considering (1) I don't yet have a family and (2) Hubby has no idea where I hid them, this purchase does not bode well for my waist line

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes today. The Doctors visit was interesting. I did respond to the treatment and made/grew three follicles, but they are smaller than expected, probably because I am kind of old for this kind of stuff at 40. A younger woman could make up to follicles - but hey, three is better than none, right?

All that being said, they are giving me a couple more days of drugs (injections) to encourange them to grow bigger, and a repeat ultrasound in 2 days time. All being well, we will be able to harvest at least two of them for fertilisation and implantation.

I am holding onto the fact that it only takes ONE to create a baby!

So all up - a reasonable response so far. And as hubby pointed out, we have just enough money left in what would have been our home deposit for another go if it doesn't work. Yes, Sourland - I am VERY lucky to have him. Maybe I will share a Tim Tam or two with him.....

Thanks Krista and Scott - I will add them to my list. I saw them and immediately thought of Australia for some reason, researched and thought I'd ask.

Hey everyone, check this out..I found it on craigslist as I was looking for free pallets to make a compost pile with. It's a try-out-a-chicken sort of idea...
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/grd/4933913540.html I wonder if it would 'fly' so to speak. I think it's kind of an interesting idea although I'd have to loan out chickens that I didn't care too much about, worried that something would happen to them. The coop is also quite small but I suppose that makes it easier for the loaning folks to tote around?
