You might need one of those big guard dogs.
The ones that like sheep more than people?

Thought about it but I hate how much those guys bark. Not a big fan of the barking dogs, I would have to have something that just did a couple of quick woofs and didn't go off at anything normal.
My neighbors have a couple of LGDs and they always bark at the stupidest things, plus the bears and such.
we just recently got our LGD.

yes, he does bark, and I too hate a barking dog. but the funny thing is his bark is not annoying.

I think it's because it takes him so long to get his bark out. the only way I can describe it. Not allot of annoying barks real fast, but rather a long drawn out bark, and then another.

well you have the poodle bark.........it's like two barks per second, highly annoying

then you'd have lab bark........it's like 1 bark every 2 seconds, annoying

then this dog's bark..........it's like 1 bark every ten seconds.......lol

I think the tone/ pitch matters also.
some people I can listen to their voice no matter what they are saying ...others not so much! There are a couple ladies on fox news might have something important to say but I simply cannot listen when they say it.

The dog barks aare the same in my house
Poodle mix vs lab mix I'll listen to the lab mix

Exactly WV
I think it applies to all noises
Dog barks or how about someone's baby cries vs MY baby cries. I love the different Rooster crows some not as much as others.
I also think noise preference changes with age

Speaking of rooster crows, I have a young mixed cockerel. He's part silver sebright, part Modern game. Cutest little thing. He is starting to crow... its so adorable!

Yesterday I left all the chicks out in the yard. By the time I got home, it was dark. 2 of the little ones were in their coop, but the rest were lined up on a roost log in the larger run. So 2 by 2, I carried them to their own coop. But one was missing. I searched all over, thinking maybe one of my dogs got one (I don't normally leave them unattended, but did for a while yesterday) Found the little mixed cockerel in the large coop on the roost! Thank goodness he was ok. I left him there until this morning, then moved him over to his pen.

This little guy... Napoleon
