I'm probably 20 lbs lighter than that picture too. I've been trying to eat insanely healthy. people probably think I have an eating disorder because I eat vegetables like they are going out of style.

I have to start thinking about things to make myself for Thanksgiving to bring to my parents... this is the only part that truly stinks about being plant-based. I hate when I have to ask others to accommodate me so I just make my own food and bring it with me

that’s awesome!! I need to start eating healthier. I’ve been doing pretty well, cooked a lot recently, but also bought tons of junk food the other day.

So it’s a very slow process haha

I regret buying the junk but I’ve been trying to limit it at least.

mostly just got like cookies and ice cream ha

but I’m trying to eat healthy and eat vegetables daily too at least cause for a while I didn’t.

I also used to eat out tons. Not really actual restaurants but Panera Bread, Subway, etc. I’ve been trying not to do that now.

last year I ate fast food every day for a while.

like actual fast food like Wendy’s and Taco Bell.

Until one day it started affecting me and I couldn’t eat it anymore haha same with soda.

I would get bad abdominal pain. Stopped eating crap and it went away :lau

and now I know it’s linked cause if I eat fried food or fast food or soda, I get it again haha

fine by me, terribly unhealthy anyway and it finally caught up to me.

so now I rarely eat actual crap but I still have a major sweets/junk food addiction. :(

and I’m not really one for moderation hah I eat it all till it’s gone so best to just not have it but I hate that.

And aw that sucks. :( I’m sure they wouldn’t mind though! But hopefully you can find something good to bring haha

and also I’m sure no one thinks you have an ED for eating vegetables lol

I wish I was like that. Hah

If you are going to open up to a bunch of faceless people, you definitely picked the right place to do it. I think this is a great bunch of people here in the Cafe. They've all become my friends and have frequently been my sounding boards. No one here is judgmental and everyone is kind, supportive and frequently hilarious so the humor will brighten even your darkest days.

x2!!! :love

I have met a lot of great people at BYC!

Some of my best friends I met on Facebook through a pulmonary hypertension group. I actually met one of them in person and we had a mini vacation together... Unfortunately she passed away a year ago. she's the reason why I fight so hard for my health and the reason why I am staying plant-based.

I’m so sorry :hit :hugs

I'm not a breakfast person, never was.

Funny thing is I LOVE breakfast foods, pancakes, waffles, French toast, eggs (scrambled and omelettes are my fave) etc. but I usually wind up eating it for lunch or dinner :lau

rarely am up early enough for actual breakfast LOL or if I am, put off eating for hours :lau

never really liked bacon or sausage much but LOVE French toast. :love

It's kind of weird because when I met my husband he really familiar with plant-based eating and now 8 years later he is eating a lot more vegetables and he rarely eats junk unless it's cream horns or quesadillas :gig

He said that he feels overall way better than he used to and he doesn't have as many aches and pains like he used to.

My oldest has become allergic to dairy all of a sudden within the past year so he has been eating more plant-based stuff as well and he always asks me what's good. He loves drinking almond milk now but it has to be the vanilla one.

And it's a long story by I actually have pulmonary hypertension too, it's a very rare disease. I actually have a Hickman line that goes into my chest that gives me IV medication called Veletri. I don't really speak about it because I don't see myself any different as a normal person and I see the positive in everything.

Having these diseases has truly made me realize how precious life is and how precious treating your body is. Everything that goes in your body affects it.

You can see my Hickman line in this picture.

My world was literally crushed 10 years ago when I got diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. Then I got diagnosed with graves' disease... Then with thyroid eye disease...

I usually hate talking about this because I don't want to be treated differently or people to pity me because I don't want a pity party. I have fought every single day for 10 years and I want other people to see this and be inspired by it.

My hair is probably twice as long now, but this was the only picture I could find where my Hickman line was showing.

Lovely picture, thanks for sharing it! And thanks for sharing your story too. People that work so hard at overcoming their personal obstacles are inspiring. That's what makes you "different"...instead of moaning & feeling sorry for yourself, you've fought hard to deal with things. :hugs

Honestly I think meeting her was good for her and for me. I think it really helped her in her last days and it helped me realize many things about life.

The weak vacation that we had with her was amazing. We went to Noah's ark that's in Kentucky, it was really fun. We actually rented scooters because most of it is inclined and back then I really couldn't do inclines but with my infusions I'm doing a lot better.

I'm probably one of the few patients that has pulmonary hypertension that doesn't need oxygen.

I pretty much moved to Virginia because of the doctors and the hospital that they have here. I think moving has really helped me too because of the weather that's why I can't really handle cold weather. It kills my lungs...

that is awesome!!! I really should try to lean more that way haha or at least more like whole foods , fruits, vegetables, etc. and less processed carp haha

And yeah I’m similar. Idk why but it’s been like a year for me too haha I can still eat it somewhat but still. Never really liked milk much anyway but it started causing stomach problems and/or sinus problems. I actually find since I’ve been eating some probiotics that I can drink it a little bit now/digest it easier but it still clogs up my sinuses/kinda hurts my head so I don’t really drink it anyway. But I do like ice cream and butter haha I try to cut it out but I don’t think I ever could totally. I love yogurt too but had off and on issues with that too. I just try to avoid most dairy now haha
