Rooster behavior question. When I take in the afternoon snack, sometimes my cockerel comes up and pecks my shoe. He did it again today after I gave him all of the pieces of today's treat. I see that as aggression... correct? Even after I made a point of giving him the treats, although the girls jumped up and got some.
If this is as far as he goes, I can live with it. If this is a prelude to increasing aggression, I need to stop it. He is a very slow learner, as far as I can tell. How would you respond to this particular behavior?
He can't ask you for treats can he. Chickens use their beaks for a multidue of things. Aggressive behaviour is when they're three foot off the ground and trying to dig their spurs into you.
Cillin, Treacle and Notch all peck my boots when they want something; usually food, but not always.
