No, we have 13 acres. Hubby lets them out, and walks them near the river around 2 pm.
Mine wake me up every morning

I seem to be spending a lot of time bent over pulling out weeds for what will be a rather small return in anything edible. Never mind, I'm learning what will grow with minimum fuss in the allotments.
The spinach made reasonable growth but has now bolted. It's just been too hot and the ground is a long way from the fertility needed.
Looks like I'll have good onions and a couple of people have grown a decetn crop of garlic for the first time thanks to the dry weather.
I won't plant leeks again and the courgetes need to go in earlier next year.
Thhis autumn I'll shape the fruit bushes so I can net them to keep the birds off. I don't mind the chickens eating the low growing fruit but the pigeons and crows I can definitely do without.

This does not look too bad, you should see mine! 🤪

With this year's early drought and an insane amount of bugs there are only three cucumbers, two zucchini and two pumpkins left.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee @DobieLover !

I am glad to hear that things are finally looking better, hopefully his transition to the new place will be smooth and not cause too much confusion.

We once found a nice size newt residing in our water meter
Must have found its way inside when nothing more than a tiny egg but we still wonder how it could actually live there and what it lived on to gain such a remarkable size.

Very foggy here this morning, but at least it is fog. Or mostly fog. We got some rain overnight, and there are more (chances) in the forecast.
Same here.
AQI down to 58 today compared to almost 200 the past couple days,
although the smoke map hasn't changed much.

Got 2 broodies crated, 1 crate tumbled off the roost yesterday morning, all survived miraculously intact....she wanted OUT and overbalanced crate.

Glad to hear they're ok!

Widget, my serial broody, is making her "I'm thinking about being broody again" noise. It's different from the broody noise, different from her regular noise. Put a sock in it, girl! I don't want to deal with that and chicks at the same time.

I have 1/4 of the coop taken up with the littles' area. @aart, could the broody crate be outside this time of year? The run is covered, so rain is not an issue.

One of the broodies is not making broody noises, and I don't think she's ever been broody before, tho she was in a nest at lock up 2 nights in a row so into a crate she went.

Sure as long as they are protected from sun/rain etc.
I've had to crate one outside when it was really hot in the coop, then keep moving during the day to keep them in the shade. PIT-A! I actually think the change in scenery shortened the breaking time, tho she was a serious serial that didn't reform until I gave her away, then she never went broody again.
