My oldest spends 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekends with his dad. So I've been taking weekly chick pics and texting them to him so that he can see them grow. I've been amazed at the changes in the past few weeks. Four are EE and they have distinctive looks... it's really fun to watch them grow up!

Edited for typos...it's really a pain to type on the phone.

Awwww... Post some pics here when you get a chance. You can almost leave for a whole day, then come home and think somebody replaced your chicks with others! Lol

Beautiful day here today. Might have to do some yard work. Although we are out of cookies!

Made blueberry muffins instead, then went and tried to tame the poor, overgrown rose bushes. I look like I went a round or two with the cat!

Good evening all,

No news to report here but I am definitely enjoying everyone's posts, especially the pictures of the ducks and turkeys, and all the talk about muffins and cookies! (Please pass the plate....)

We have just had our first cool week here. I'm not going to say 'cold' as from what I read some of you are currently buried in snow

It was a chilly 18 degrees celcius here today (64F) so I've bought a big pumpkin and tomorrow I'm going to make home-made pumpkin soup. I am very excited about this, and I might even make some fresh bread in my bread-maker to go with it.

So, I have another question for the group. Merely to satisfy my own curiosity and need to know everything, lol.

As you all know, I am an Accountant.

When I was younger I never wanted to be an Accountant though. I wanted to be a teacher for a while, and then later on I wanted to be a mortician (well, someone has to do it!)

Now, if I won the lotto, I would want to open my own business. A home-style café where folks can get good, honest, homemade meals at a reasonable price. Much like our little café here, actually!

So.....What do you do for a living (or what did you used to do?), and what did/do you really want to do career wise if you had the opportunity?

I had a nice response written, but then the power went out.

So anyway, moose tracks on my porch this AM. 2 feet of heavy wet snow and still coming down.

Degree in Animal Science, emphasis on genetics. Sold a Trail Riding and Training business. Did Kid Camps and Equine Therapy programs. Loved it but it was a lot of work with 4 kids, which has been my main job. After this summer, I will have one son at home, 11yo and I am waiting to see what happens with the economy and DH's health in order to start the next adventure, besides the mini-homesteading currently being undertaken.

I'm thinking of going into Special Effects. I've always been into computers and techie stuff, and I'm also a bit of a artist. Otherwise I'd like to be a horseback riding instructor. My family thinks I should be a vet because I'm so good with animals, but I think I'm to soft hearted for that. The blood and guts don't bother me, I can gut and skin a deer without getting sick. I just wouldn't be able to put animals to sleep, and seeing them in pain makes me sick, that's why I don't want to be a vet.

Interesting question. I will start by saying that my sister is a CPA and my brother is a Controller, so they both have accounting degrees.

My mother wanted me to be a doctor, I thought I wanted to be a Biomedical Engineer. In the end I was a mom, which I wouldn't trade for anything.

I currently work as a pharmacy technician, and before that I managed a group home for Developementally Disabled adults. I've also been a bartender (fun) and I've been in a band that traveled and played in bars.

My daughter will have a PhD in Biological sciences, she has a Pham/Chemistry degree. My son has a degree in Mathmatics and Economics, and will be working as a Financial Anlyst in another month.

And if money was no object, I think my husband and I would like to open a restaurant! We LOVE to cook.

Interesting responses everyone!

On second thoughts, I think I might want to be a kabazillionaire too! I also want to be a Mum - possibly one of the hardest and most under-appreciated jobs going, but I'd like to do it none-the-less!

Tomorrow is my ultrasound to see if I have made any follicles. After last time, my expectations are low. I hope to get a pleasant surprise, but to be honest I feel so 'well.' You might think this is a good thing, but last time when I made 4 follicles (1 of which was ok but still failed to fertilise) I felt terrible. Very bloated, very sad, very sore. This time round I feel great, and I wonder if this is an indication nothing is happening inside me. Sigh. I am hoping I'm wrong.

Today was an exciting day though. Biscuit, my RIR x BO pullet, laid her very first egg.

She is 29 weeks old, so she was due, lol. She laid it in front of me, and I went to give her a pat afterwards, and she bit me

She is not my friendliest chicken, but that's ok if she's going to keep giving me these beautiful brown eggs.

I am tired of shoveling - dirt, snow, "seaweed" and chicken stuff! All of it- over it! Maybe I will work on legs this week. Here is a link from this am in the wood yard where we split firewood. Listen close....

Congrats on the first chicken egg this week. Good luck folliculating, if that is a real word, should be anyway.
My 11 yo wants to know if Australians talk in the third person regularly....
