If I ever make it to Australia, you know I am visiting with a box of brownies!
I think It would be so cool to do a BYC holiday.
I'd go to England and Ireland and France, and Oz, and Canada and Alaska....
hey.. who is in Hawaii? that is on my list.

It would be awesome to have a BYC holiday or meet-up of some sort. I have the image in my mind of "meet the flock" parties in which we all get to say hi to each others' chickens

I'm on my second cup of coffee this afternoon, because it is so darn cold here toda....brrrr!

I don't know how many baby birds are in the nest now, but earlier today I was watching when a brand new one fell out of the nest. I swept into action with a step stool and a spoon and scooped the little guy up and put him back. He was pretty ugly, bald with a little bit of gray fuzz. And a big head!
Momma was back sitting on the nest last time I checked and the baby was still in there.

I also found a smaller, not completely developed baby on the cement below the nest. Mom must have gotten rid of that one.

So, that's the baby bird update for the day...off to get more coffee, and I think I'll have a cupcake while I'm at it!:D

It is only 90 here, but it is so dry we decided to come home for showers before we head back out. I think I like the humid heat better. It feels hotter, but my skin doesn't feel like it will blow away off my face.
Thursday it was 96 -and it could have been hot.

I do have frozen coffee cubes in the freezer. I think I might do that.

Coffee cubes sound yummy!
Packing up the dogs and their stuff. They are heading to AZ tomorrow for a move with my oldest boy and his family. I am going to miss my family, not the dogs so much, even if the one is now bear trained. My hen had 2 chicks and so far so good. She is off the nest and I got that all cleaned up. Tomorrow, we get the kitten that has been in a holding pattern until the dogs left and next week the meaties should arrive in the mail; possibly another shipment of chicks ordered back in December, will know on the 2nd if they shipped.
So, out with the old work, in with the new work!

Miss Wiggles even a day apart in hatching, the older ones are bigger. They do tend to muscle younger ones out of the nest. Later on they or mama eat any that couldn't keep up. That's why I keep taking robin nests down (BEFORE eggs are laid). I got sick of seeing what goes on- I know it's nature but, they can take their nest somewhere else.
Every year a robin builds a nest on the bedroom outer window sill. It takes about 3 times of knocking it off before mama gets a clue. She moved to the next door neighbor this time.
