BYC Café

I'm catching up late. Our heat duct is about a foot from our toilet. when my son was very young and ill, he managed to barf into the heat duct. Every time the heat went on it rewarded us with a unique fragrance. Ah those were the days - they grow up so fast.

Oh my! I have tons to say on this, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. You folks sleep good, keep the coffee pot on and I'll talk to you tomorrow
ok, my take on the womens lib or equality issues, what ever you choose to call them.

I believe that men and women are truly equal. Too many people mistake the fact that men and women have different roles to be a sign of inequality. Just because men and women are built differently, and excel at different things doesn't make one superior over the other. yes, yes, equal pay for equal jobs, and all that.

many years ago, I attended a team building seminar. I hated those things, still do. But one of the presenters left me with an impression, that I still carry with me today. No one can eat a whole elephant by themselves. It take a village. Meaning each person of the village (team) has a bite (responsibility) to take.

Marriage is a team effort, family is a team effort. Each person in the family has a responsibility, a role to play. Each of those roles are equally important.

last little tidbit from the top of my soapbox. I firmly believe a huge cause for the degradation of our society, has been the blurring of lines between gender. To say any of it is normal, is a huge fallacy, that only fools ourselves, and leads us down paths of degradation.

I'm so glad it isn't my place to judge, and I do not. But although I may not judge, I certainly do NOT have to accept it as normal.

I saw where sour said he holds the door for anyone, and I think that is correct. Public politeness, goes a long way in bettering our society.

I was raised to hold doors, my boys are raised to hold doors, my daughters are raised to expect those boys, and any future boys to hold doors. That is one small bite of the elephant I teach my boys. But what about the girls, what is their bite? They are raised to tell them boys thank you, sincerely. but I also teach my daughters, to open the door themselves, if someone isn't there to open for them. I think you can teach independence, without losing politeness.

anyway, that is my take, your's may differ, and that is fine. different opinions are needed, and discussion about them as well.
