True. they call me the instigator but it is him. really.
They just want someone to take the blame.
I am glad that at least you realize that.
LOL - oh, poor eggsy always getting the blame........

Yes herding 101, do not get them running. Everything is faster and better able at jumping then me

Oh, so true -- it's about controlled chaos because there isn't an animal out there you'll win against once you start a chase. The real trick is in getting them to do what you want them to do by letting it be "their idea" .....make the wrong thing hard and the right thing easy....and, yes, it is an art....but once you've got it down you can move just about anything in any situation.
If donkeys could laugh, I'm pretty sure they would've been. I was making so many different animal calls. At one point, I tried to reason with them. Found out they're a LOT faster than me. Got to practice my knot tying, traffic directing, off roading and a few other things. In the end, I ended up getting them corralled on some people's property that thankfully weren't upset I chose their yard to trap them. Here'a pic of the girls, Sally & Abbey.
Sounds like an adventure indeed, and good on ya' for taking action! We have had the good fortune/misfortune to practice our herding, catching and returning skills more times than I can count living out here -- which is why there is a slip lead (for dogs), a rope halter, rope (can always "make" a halter), etc in my vehicle at all times. Grew up in "open range" territory so we learned early how to push animals back to where they belong and that you don't just drive on by and leave someone else to deal with an animal that is out, etc -- daddy was always the first to stop and lend a hand and he passed that on to me. I miss that way of life where people looked out for everyone else around them.

Good morning! Nice and cool this morning. Thinking it'll be a right perfect day to get er done.

I'd love to know more about y'all. Our profiles don't tell much. Feel like fellowshippin and sharin?

Great idea, Boots!
Currently living in purgatory (aka Indiana, lol) pending relocation back to Oregon. Mom of two - DD will be 20 this summer and is currently a student at Purdue and DS is finishing his freshman year of high school. My husband and I will celebrate our 16th anniversary later this year. Currently share our little piece of ground with 20 chickens, four cats and two dogs -- DD was able to move her horse up with her a couple of months ago so now the chickens have the whole pasture to themselves (and still prefer the neighbor's yard -

- luckily they all like the little buggars, and are easily bribed with eggs). Recently got fed up with the place I had worked and, thanks to a supportive and understanding other half, was able to walk away - just started a new job last month and so far am loving it (almost enough to make me wish we hadn't decided we were moving this year).

Happy Thursday, or "Friday" for some of us. Today should be slow, which will be nice because yesterday was busy from the moment I woke up (too early I might add) to the moment I went to bed. Thankfully I have only one of these day per month.

Cold here today, mid-30's this morning, but we should see things warm up this weekend.

Have a lovely day everyone.

LOL - tomorrow is my Monday.
Hope you did have a nice quiet day to recover from a crazy yesterday.
46 msgs? No time..... round one is twins, boys

Oh, YAY, so glad they arrived safely - what a couple of darlings!
