LOL - oh, poor eggsy always getting the blame........True. they call me the instigator but it is him. really.
They just want someone to take the blame.
I am glad that at least you realize that.
Yes herding 101, do not get them running. Everything is faster and better able at jumping then me![]()
Oh, so true -- it's about controlled chaos because there isn't an animal out there you'll win against once you start a chase. The real trick is in getting them to do what you want them to do by letting it be "their idea" .....make the wrong thing hard and the right thing easy....and, yes, it is an art....but once you've got it down you can move just about anything in any situation.
Sounds like an adventure indeed, and good on ya' for taking action! We have had the good fortune/misfortune to practice our herding, catching and returning skills more times than I can count living out here -- which is why there is a slip lead (for dogs), a rope halter, rope (can always "make" a halter), etc in my vehicle at all times. Grew up in "open range" territory so we learned early how to push animals back to where they belong and that you don't just drive on by and leave someone else to deal with an animal that is out, etc -- daddy was always the first to stop and lend a hand and he passed that on to me. I miss that way of life where people looked out for everyone else around them.If donkeys could laugh, I'm pretty sure they would've been. I was making so many different animal calls. At one point, I tried to reason with them. Found out they're a LOT faster than me. Got to practice my knot tying, traffic directing, off roading and a few other things. In the end, I ended up getting them corralled on some people's property that thankfully weren't upset I chose their yard to trap them. Here'a pic of the girls, Sally & Abbey.![]()
