So, here I am again asking for advice. How do you bury chickens, straight in the ground or in a bag first? Have just had my four Red Sex Links killed by a stray pitbull. Animal control has hauled her off, I've rescued Madea, and now I'm cleaning up the carnage. This is horrible. I have the hole dug and I just need to know which way to go. Advice, anyone?
I've never buried a chicken, but I have had to bury other pets before. We always put them in a cardboard box because it rots, but if you dig the hole deep enough then it should be fine. Maybe put a rock on top?

x2 and go as deep as you reasonably can; you don't want them to get dug up.

It's bad enough having to bury them the first time.

Sorry about your loss - there's never anything pleasant about having something you care about get treated in such an unthinking and careless manner, even if it doesn't involve loss of life. Chickens can be such characters, you can get really attached.

Oh wow I completely forgot to say, sorry for your loss. I cry every time I lose a pet, and I've only ever owned hamsters and fish! I know how attached you can get.

Well, I got everything cleaned up. Thanked God for the privilege to have received eggs from his creatures and thanked Him for helping me get over my fear of birds. Hubby is furious. Watching for the one dog that got away from animal control. Hubby will have to work on coop this afternoon. Sad day. Thank you all for all your advice and sympathy.

I nearly got my face bitten off by a dog when I was seven or eight. Lucky my mother was there to block his teeth with her leg! Still, left a scar.
