It seems that everyone has gone Silki mad.
Even my elder sister who is normally relatively stable went and got two.
I don't get it. Sure they look kinda cute but....

They certainly are popular! I've never seen the attraction but since I've never had one maybe I'm missing out on something.

Does your sister have other chickens?

I agree with both of you. They are cute. But have never held an interest for me.

Oh good grief! I'm on the phone with a competitor helping a customer cancel a policy and it's taking the guy half an hour!

IM did you ever see Caddy Shack? Rodney Dangerfield has a line in it, something like, "Let's go! While we're young!" :gig

I don't like their looks, but I have one Silkie rooster that I will never sell. He's worth his weight in gold.

Oh yes. She's incredibly good with them. A completely different approach to me. She is a backyard keeper but they free range in her yard. Her eldest hen a Swedish breed died last year at 16 years old! She has another Swedish breed who is now 12 or 13 years old.
They are strictly pets although she likes the eggs.

Hey y'all, there's a Poultry show pretty close to us coming up in a couple weeks, and I'm really considering getting a Roo and a couple of broody hens. I would welcome any breed selection suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
What do you have now?
