lol I have lots of sailing stories ~ some scarily freaky. They ended up in Cairns ~ which is way, way up north & truly tropical but still live aboard. Their oldest had a bit of trouble adjusting to uni as she'd never really lived on land or in a house for any extended period.
I think the only real trouble they had was in the Louisiades [off PNG] while they waited on a weather window to get back into Australia. They had 3 goes before they made it & got robbed blind because by PNG standards they were filthy rich.
Of course they had the usual things: motor troubles & waiting in a dubious port for ages for parts to arrive from Australia, banking stuff~ups & @ least one expired passport which created havoc but my brother is fairly cautious & was extra so as his wife had never sailed before & his 2 kids were pretty tiny. As a sailor, & one who has raced small cats, I would never cross an ocean in a cat or a tri. Waaay too unstable though living conditions tend to be roomier. Plus my math is scarily non~existant. My brother does transports sailing other people's boats from port to port & if I remember correctly he's done one Sydney to Hobart for the heck of it. Like me he's sailed since he was tiny & has loads of experience.
