Yes they are in Scotland.
I didn't know much about the folk law and only bothered to find out the first year it flowered outside my house. For a few days it is spectacular. I let it grow because it make excellent cover for the chickens in the summer.
I'm just scouting about to find out if I can use the berries for a chutney or pickle. I haven't tried making anything with them before although I have tasted sloe gin.
Sounds pretty sketchy to get pricked by that thing  Did you like the sloe gin?

No I didn't.
I don't drink except at Christmas, weddings and funerals.
When I do drink I drink single malt Scotch Whiskey. Fortunatley I have a couple of bottles left from earlier Christmas gifts. I have a ten year old Scotch that is now 16 years old and unopened. The one I got given this year was rather nice. Ideally I'll have a couple of friends around over Christmas and we'll sit and chat and work our way through the bottle. I had my half brother here this Christmas and he didn't feel a thing.

Agh. Would she do that at a time like this? I'm sure it'll take a bit to dock and get off the boat.

I seriously wish that I could answer that. :lau Amazing what you get when you mix Scottish, German, Polish, and Hungarian Gypsy DNA. I'm leaning towards lengthy docking and screening procedures.

I'm quite a likable man in the flesh.
In real life I'm a lot quieter than my net posting would suggest. A solitary man is what some have described me as. I'm also very opinionated which I believe I've earned the right to be.
I dare say me and him would be fine by the time we got halfway down the bottle.;)
