BYC Café

Update on the 'alien on my abdomen'. Very little reaction to the tick/bite. What was left of the tick fell off yesterday. Still watching, but not too concerned. I've had Lyme disease and took part in a vaccine development program so may very well have resistance to the evil little spirochete.
or you are incubating a new invasive life form!😉

Good evening Cafe.
Tea on the stove. Walnut bread and black olive and anchovy paste on the counter. I made the paste myself and it's rather good.
Still a bit chilly here at night so I've got the stove running low. Had a bit of rain but mostly sunny and not too hot during the day.

This morning her three boys talked her into get chicks from TSC. 16, mixed breed flock of day old pullets. Gonna be interesting... :)
So does she know how fast day old chicks grow and how long it takes to build a coop for 16? PLEASE don't tell me she bought one of those little "holds 6-9 chickens" prefab coops.

The look on the bottom ones face cracks me up
What chu lookin' at Meg??

No, she didn't buy a coop, thank goodness! She has a 12x8 shed that has good potential. It needs ventilation, more than anything else. It's a gambrel roof style, and I wish the roof were falling in so that it had to be replaced. She does need to build a run. Her dad lives two doors down, and he's got a lot of experience building stuff.

She knows she has 4-5 weeks. I think the dust from 16 chicks will make it a priority to get them outside. The dust is one thing I forgot to tell her about, but she'll learn soon.

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee. We have a beautiful sunny morning but are expecting rain this afternoon.

I sold the furniture and asked the buyer to remove it today if possible. I'd much rather have the room empty for painting than have to work around it with drop cloths.

I have an eye doctor appointment this morning. I intend to ask for a Restasis or Cequa sample for my severe dry eye. The multiple times a day Thera tears helps but doesn't eliminate the pain in my right eye and both are always red. I'm sick of it. I don't know if either treatment will help (they are both cyclosporine) and work by reducing inflammation in the eye. It takes up to three months of treatment to see any noticeable improvement so I would want at least a 90 day supply. The stuff is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive and with my deductible, I'd have to pay for it all. I'd like to know it actually works before making a several hundred dollar investment.
