BYC Café

Good morning! The sun is just over the horizon now. Freezing fog in some spots, so I'm glad I don't have to leave until 9:30 for my appointment and errands.

I think I'll put the heated waterer out today, so the chickens know it's there and get used to it.

My laying pullet laid a medium sized egg yesterday. It was several weeks before my first group of pullets got up to that size. You go, Stormy bird!

Good morning Cafe! Thanks for the coffee :)

It's overcast this morning and there will be rain this afternoon. I have a couple more bulbs to plant and then I will be finished for the year - added a couple naturalizing tulips, Siberian squill, Muscari, and Checkered Lillies in addition to lots of daffodils, tulips, and crocuses! Should be lovely in the spring.

Hope you'll share pictures of them in the spring when they bloom, they sound lovely.

I will!

Bulbs are the gift that keeps on giving every spring! I love all the daffodils we have here in April.

My father planted 10,000 bulbs one fall back in British Columbia - he's Dutch, so growing flowers of all sorts is in his blood. The springs were just amazing after that with flowers everywhere! I'm trying to recreate a little bit of home out here on the east coast :)

Frosty out there this morning, sun hitting the frosted leaves makes them fall like rain.
Slept late, was already light out when I got up...which was kind of weird.
Threw my 'schedule' off, had to do chicken chores before my second cuppa.
Dumped more dirt from edging into the winter dust bath area and got heated waterer installed....can watch it today, should get up to temp before the ambient temps turn the thermo cube off.
Gonna be upper 50's today and tomorrow.
Got the first section of ornamental grass lassoed for cutting later on.
I use a tie down strap around it, tightening as I cut, to hold it all together to haul of into the woods.
