For sure!
She sounded really bad when I first discovered it yesterday afternoon,
but I knew there was really nothing to do about it.
She sounded better at lock up, so felt there was a chance of recovery.
She's the youngest of the hens and just started laying again.

Another relief was to get the driveway cleared before the warmth and wicked winds began.
Glad to hear she's doing better.

Sunny here, and 40, but the wind! I'm going to go to the green house and let some sunshine soak into my bones.

Faverolles, Chanteclers, Australorps, Wyandottes, Welsummers and Plymouth Rocks are all supposed to be winter layers. I have or have had all of these and none have ever laid in the winter past their first.
I have had Aurstalorps and rocks lay in the winter. They do take a break after molting and only lay 1 to 3 eggs a week instead of 5 to 6 eggs though. They will also stop and lay less after three years old.

It likely matters how far north you are. If you are only getting 10 hours of light a day, even winter layers will stop laying eggs.

I use many generations to have layers all the time
I'm beginning to think I need to do that.

Oh heck, I want more chickens. I want chicks. My spring fever is kicking in, and I want cute little fluff balls going peep peep peep!
