Glad to hear she's doing better. For sure!
She sounded really bad when I first discovered it yesterday afternoon,
but I knew there was really nothing to do about it.
She sounded better at lock up, so felt there was a chance of recovery.
She's the youngest of the hens and just started laying again.
Another relief was to get the driveway cleared before the warmth and wicked winds began.
I have had Aurstalorps and rocks lay in the winter. They do take a break after molting and only lay 1 to 3 eggs a week instead of 5 to 6 eggs though. They will also stop and lay less after three years old.Faverolles, Chanteclers, Australorps, Wyandottes, Welsummers and Plymouth Rocks are all supposed to be winter layers. I have or have had all of these and none have ever laid in the winter past their first.
I'm beginning to think I need to do that.I use many generations to have layers all the time
"unnecessarily put to sleep".....who decides that?
