BYC Forum Cleanup - Preparation for Spring 2009! Post Counts May Drop

Well I hardly post in the game threads, but it makes me sad to lose some of my count. I guess this just makes me not want to post in a thread that may become "trash" in the future. I see why you have to do it, and I can see how some peoples' post counts will suffer greatly.

Periodic cleaning is going to be the only way to keep this forum organized and useful considering the size of the membership and the number of daily posts. So we may as well get used to it as a have to be situation.

I till think the astronomical post counts are a bit misleading to new folks that might consider the higher post counts to mean someone has been around awhile posting reasonable comments. The post count should look plausible with the sign on date. A post count of 5000 and a title that appears esteemed like Flock Master that is granted in 5 months really makes the title worthless. I agree, purge and however my count comes out in the end, fine with me.

How many posts do I need to get to ADMINISTRATOR?

Go take a look at the high posters - in the top ten or even top 20 - there are more mod's and others who are not playing games etc. than those that do play games 90% of the time. So deleting games is really not going to make a big difference to many.


I post a lot of social junk, getting to know folks, teasing folks I know, or having a little fun, but just as many of my posts are helping newbies and answering questions I can help with. I think thats how it SHOULD be. I can't be ALL chicken talk and nothing else, thats just me, I enjoy talking about other things as well, right here on this forum with folks I know.

Do we have a date for the Big Delete?

Many of us on the Hey Grandpa thread are hoping to not lose the great recipes that have been posted, so we've begun a new thread and are working together to compile them on a separate and better organized thread. Just today we managed to take nearly 140 pages down to just 5 pages!

We still have a bit more to go, so if we could get through them before the Big Delete, it'd be appreciated by a lot of folks.

Is there a reason people don't want to lose their counts. Do you win a new car or home when you get to 10,000 or something?

I love to help if I can which is little and far between and sometimes I like to tell someone how sorry I am when thinks happens. Or say congrads when someone gets their first egg.

But I would just be happy to learn everything I can on here. So thank you for all you do and if you need to remove all my counts that's fine by me. Just keep filling my head with everything you can about chickens.
