BYC gardening thread!!

shot me an email at [email protected]. if your interested in some of the pumpkin seeds. as far as the soil goes. i just added compost to the ground in the fall. i didnt even fertilize it.

We have the richest soil right now cause our chicken poop and compost has finally turned into rich soil. Its awesome!

Our bean are shooting up like crazy there all about 4-7 inches tall now. Asparagus hasn't popped up yet and neither have the squash. (They are indoors, and are planted in peat moss)


Thats all the update I have for you guys right now.

These are our lemon, limequat, and kumquat trees, and our dog Gus. He says hi.











Our basil, money tree, lots of cacti, fern, and bean sprouts.







These are some beginnings that are going to go outside very soon, once this cold is gone!

I've never done anything like this before my fiance (farmguy2007) introduced me to this wonderful way of living. I'm excited to become a city-raised farm girl! We have big plans and we have posted pictures of our brand new chickens on a chicken-related thread. I'm going to send photos of the backyard of this place (we bought the house for 12K and have been remodeling it all of 2013) onto here because I know that what we are going to do is big, and I can't wait to show it off come summer!!!

I've been house sitting my neighbors house and I have to water the plants in the greenhouse. I'm really liking the greenhouse with the set up and everything. Does anyone else have a greenhouse?

A small one, but we don't grow much in it.

We have a small greenhouse at the edge of our property. It is used to quarantine sick chickens. We used to grow stuff in it, but we don't any more.

Cool that you guys have greenhouses! I think are family should get a greenhouse sometime soon. Any idea of how much they cost?
