We have a garden now, it has broccoli, cauliflower, Romain lettuce, cabbage, and green peppers! And we have a huge tomato plant that's producing fruit even though it's winter!

Awesome!!
My carrots keep failing so I'm hoping that this year the carrots will be successful.

I'm new to gardening but I've bought probably around 20-30 different types of seeds! lol we're starting the red cabbage and arugula now I think I have to wait to start the others since I'm zone 6? Or 7 something and the book we got said to wait until April, I wish we had our birds :( I have no idea what to use for fertilizer other then maybe some pond mud.

Really? Our carrot plantings are too successful we have to pull some out because there are so many of them.
Hmm... Well I think our problem is that we have to many trees around are house and therefore not enough light/sun gets to them.
:/

I've found that if you leave all the chicken poop and sawdust for about a year and a half it turns into very rich soil, great for planting in!
Good Luck :D

Can't wait to play in the dirt. We started a bunch of herbs and celery last week , this week is the peppers, then in 2 weeks the tomatoes. Here in zone 6 we need to wait till may for the frost . Sugar snap peas will be in the ground april.
Garlic in from last sept. Harvesting in july. Hope I grew enough to support my habbit.

I grow asparagus, beets, brussel sprouts, brocc, cabbage, spinach, pac choi, sugar snap peas ( prepping the bed today) .summer and winter squash, cukes, and zukes, leeks, onions, parsnips, carrots ( in a pot on the deck), rudabagas, grapes, peachs, apples, bule berries, blk caps(not in the fence) , sometimes corn, greens; including chard, peppers sweet and hot, pole beans and herbs
