I don't know if I'll be pruning it, it shouldn't grow that big. Our climate really doesn't support that big plum trees, short summers and long winters offer little time to grow. If I do, I'll cut it early in spring, probably. But the variety is a local one, and should do without pruning, except for maybe cutting away branches that are rubbing against each other.

@hennible , That is just crazy!! I guess I can see some Home Owners Associations having an issue with not having it in the front yard for 'aesthetic' reasons (which is also stupid) but on your own private property? I think they should applaud people that don't want government handouts and want to be able to sustain themselves. Isn't that what the government agencies are always griping about? People that don't want to work for it and just expect a payout? I thought the goal was to get people to be able to sustain themselves so they didn't need government assistance.

What a load of manure!

I love my country- i hate my government and it's elected officials. I am going to add a link to this at my home forum for others to read also. I can tell you we have several farm markets in the area. Most are free to swll from. However you have to get a growers. Permit from the County Extension Office- (government)
