hard feathered as in fast growing feathers and soft feathered as in slow growing feathers? That is a sexlinked factor, symbol K. Slow growth is dominant
No, not slow feathering vs fast feathering.
Some breeds have "hard" feathering genes like Aseels where the feathers lay tight against the body and are stiff.
Others are soft feathered breeds like Orpingtons, where the feathers have volume and are soft.

Thanks. Yes, I am aware that it is not related to eggshell color. :)
How about leg color? I am aware that yellow is recessive and I know about dermal melanin and fibromelanin.
We have a doc around here somewhere with shank color genetics.

Do you have any info on the possible resulting of crossing a hard feathered bird with a soft feathered bird?
I don't have the article.
But dermal melanin id+ is recessive sexlinked.
And yellow w is recessive.
Slate female id+/- W+/W+
Slate male id+/id+
Yellow female Id/- w/w
Yellow male Id+/Id+ w/w
White female Id/- W+/W+
White male Id/Id W+/W+
Willow female id+/- w/w
Willow male id+/id+ w/w
The shade of leg color is diluted by genes like barring and blue that dilute feather colors.
Birchen and black have black legs while barred and blue birchen have slate legs and wheaten and partridge have slate legs.

Fibromelanism which is not just for shank color, but whole body distribution except plumage, is dominant. I haven't figured out what affects skin color.

Here is all my knowledge on eye color.
Bk+dominant sex linked
bk recessive sex linked black
Pk+ dominant
pk recessive pink eyes
Green+* green eye inhibitor- dominant
green* green eyes- recessive.
Pearl+* pearl eye inhibitor-dominant
pearl* pearl eyes- recessive.
*fictitious genotypes.
***id+/id+ can darken they color of an eye. E/E and ER/ER can also. Patterns such as barring can dilute it.***
I haven't figured out what alot of the genotypes are.

Hi guys,

I started working on a dialogflow app (google assistant voice) as a portal to a chicken calculator.
How would/could one word the following question?
What are the genes of my chicken?
Goal of this question is to start the dialog and to get the gender of the chicken.

What are all the synonyms for rooster and hen?

How would one describe the color of a chicken?
my hen is a ...

From the words given here I would have to deduce the color aspects of that chicken

common misspellings

at the end of the dialog you would know the genotype of your chicken (as far as can be deduced) and I could link it to a calculator, eg the one this thread is about

thanks in advance for all suggestions

That's very cool.
Does it also state the phenotype of the chicken?
For example
Gold duckwing for Brown Leghorn
Red duckwing for black breasted red
Partridge for Partridge Wyandotte
Black with red leakage
Laced blue
