I always wondered why messages sent to other uses are public. Those should be private as they can contain personal information or requests... I personally am not a fan of publicized messages... maybe it’s just me?

There is a private message function at the top under "Inbox". Profile messages are open for all to see.

AND so are conversation messages. They appear under “Postings” on a person’s profile page

No, you cannot see them unless you are a participant.
