BYC SEWING/QUILTING CLUB

You can go to Walmart or any sewing store and they will show you the right needle. They come in a pack and most are Singers use a universal type needle. Hope this helps.

I have already started planning AND working on Christmas gifts!

I was at Jo-Ann Fabrics on Saturday and I found a pattern that my nieces, nephews, and my children would love!

I know this question doesn't have anything too do with quilting but I was wondering if anyone had a pattern for victorian dress or civil war dresses? I can't locate any as of yet on the internet. Now I can't make it but a friend of mine said she could if I had a pattern

Sorry to hear this, I will be praying a new machine will just fall in your lap. Sure hope you find one fast, I would not know what to do but I have 5 sisters who sew so I would at least have a place to go and use one if I needed too.

Now's a good time to learn piecing, lol. Sorry, I know how frustrating it can be without a machine. It's only been a short time that I've learned how to use a machine to quilt. Hopefully you will find one soon. I have the cheapest model Brother Walmart had about 10years ago. Cost $99 but has lasted this long with no problems. All you need is something that can sew a straight line.

How about a pattern that really requires you to use hand piecing and folding??!! Takes forever but it is beautiful......................Cathedral Window.

Why suspend your membership because of a machine breakdown? You can still chat and offer advice and tell us what you want to make when you get a machine. CoyoteMgic is right. Try hand piecing. That's what quilters did in the old days before sewing machines. It keeps you on top of everything. I did all hand piecing until last year when my daughter talked me into taking a machine quilting class. I got hooked but still think every once in a while that I should start one by hand that I can work on when sitting in front of the TV or take with me wherever I go and have to sit and wait. I 'll keep you in my prayers that things work out for you and you have another machine soon.

My 14 yo wants a quilt with that frayed look you have on yours- I know how to sew the pieces together- but how do you get the frayed look?

I have officially unsuspend myself.

LOL I gotta say you quilty friends are the greatest!!!!! Even babymakes5 offered me a machine. How awesomely generous. But I'll let you all know just as I told her my hubby is getting me a new machine at the first of the month.

At first I thought he was just blowing smoke but he's worked alot of overtime in the last few weeks and Sunday I woke up to him looking online at machines. So it will just be a couple of weeks which is just enough time to clean up my sewing desk real good and reorganize my stash. I'm looking at the Kenmore version (made by Janome) of the Janome DC010. A real nice middle of the road, get me through till the kids leave the nest and I can get something real snazzy. Unless you guys have any other suggestions. Budget is $300.

And once again thank you babymakes5 for your kind and generous offer.

OMG you guys do ROCK. As I was typing out my post I received another generous offer. Talk about making a fellow quilty girl feel good. I think I hear birds singing. Well yeah it's the 4 parakeets behind me.
