I can answer this! You snip the seam allowance (without snipping the stitch!!) at 1/4 - 1/2 inch intervals, creating a fringe effect. With some fabrics, the more it gets washed the more it frays, giving it raggedy look.

If I get a chance tomorrow( its 11:41pm here) I will post a few pics of rag quilts I have made.

Yeah, I cut mine every 1/4 inch. It takes a little while, but after that wash it and it may take a few times, but it looks cute

Thanks to Zahboo I have gotten my quilting butt in gear again. I wish this had photographed in the colors that it actually is, but it didn't. It is burgundy, dark purple/periwinkle and the outside border and background is an oriental metallic in burg/periwinkle/turquoise and green.

Quilt from a blue strip swap. Same thing happened with this one, the yellow is sunny yellow. duh? Unfinished top. Background is 40s blue print.

Gorgeous Verthandi! I am working on 2 quilts atm. One for my FFA advisor. It has bears (school mascot) a blue and gold wheat pattern (blue and gold are ffa colors) and a khaki that ties them together. It's a bold quilt, and I'm not in the mood to sew atm, but this weekend maybe..

Sounds like you have gotten pretty serious about quilting. Does your FFA advisor know about the quilt?
