Is there a way to get rid of the hideous incredibly annoying red signs littering the forum page?

Why are they necessary?
This is not a dead forum where someone makes a new post every few days or weeks.
Of course there's something new!!! I don't want signs telling me about new posts. Please. Bold titles are enough.

"hideous" is a pretty strong word, but your latter points are valid since pretty much every section of BYC will almost always have new content.

Any votes / reasons from other peeps on why we should keep them?

I do like the brown ones in the threads I’m reading. But the red ones in the overview (screenshot feathermaid) are not informative for me. Better remove useless info that attacks attention. But maybe there are some readers that read all new posts? Then you could make the brown color work here too.

But in my defense, I access the site from a mobile phone with a tiny screen. The red stands out and makes it easier to see the new posts.

The bold looks similar to the larger font on some threads

I can 'see' that...tho can't imagine having to actually live with it.
But don't all the forums have 'new' on them?

brown is easier on the eye but fine either way

I use it for the forums that I'm watching. I check it really often, so it doesn't ALWAYS have new posts
And it doesn't necessarily need to be such a bright red for me to see it. Any color would probably work just as well.
