CACKLE CACKLE CACKLE HORRIFIC HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM OWNER

Well hopefully they get it sorted out. I think we could all agree that we don't like seeing mom and pop shops go out of business.

Same situation here! I ordered 15 guineas back in Feb. and canceled in April via email and voicemail. Come May 29th the guineas were on my door step. Only 11 in the box, 2 dead on arrival, and 5 died within 12 hours. I finally got through to Cackle the next morning and after much debate they claimed they would refund the money. Still haven't checked my credit card statement. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, you take chances with anyone you get birds from, large or small. My best advice is to get fowl from someone you know and trust. Also, check around locally, you may be surprised the birds you can find within driving distance from your place. That way you can see first hand what kind of birds you are getting. If you want rarer breeds, go to a poultry show, or your local fair to find sources for birds. There is also a great site for finding stuff locally called www.bestfarmbuys.com. I have also met some fine people on sites like this one, that I have established good relationships with, that have been great sources for fowl. JMO

My feed store orders from Cackle and we can order through them. Last year I got some wonderful, healthy speckled sussex chicks. This year i tried to order Delewares twice, but apparently they lost their breeder. I have not dealt with them personally,so I can't speak to their customer service. That is a bigee for me. I don't care if you have the best of the best, treat me rudely and you will loses my business. I can handle disappointment and even mistakes,if I am treated properly. I do know that earlier this year I e-mailed Cackle because the had misspelled "Marans". I got a nice e-mail back from them and they corrected it.

I ordered from cackle over 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything from them! they say you will get a conformation from them in 10 business days but it has been over 15 business days. I have seem many other complaints like this one all over the web. I wish I had never ordered from them! Other folks are also talking about not getting through on the phone and they never answer your e-mails. I would love to cancel my order, but I don't want the hassle. If they would just take the time to let you know what's going on, I would not care to be more patient. I feel as if once they get your order and card# they don't care how they treat you. I certainly don't want to do business with someone who don't appreciate it. I run a web based business too, and anytime I get swamped with orders my first priority is to let my customers know if there will be a delay in their order. It's just how things are done!
If their overwhelmed with orders, then you would think with business so good they could at least afford to hire someone to answer the phone and send e-mails?

Ahhhhh they have not changed one bit. Years ago I called them with some questions about their stock(was tired of getting 'mutts' or not quite up to standard from hatcheries and wanted to see if their stock were somewhat better bred) and the lady was VERY rude.. absolutely carried on like I was bothering HER and she just hung up on me in middle of a sentence.

Never ordered from them and any catalogs in mail from them were promptly trashed.. Sure am glad I did not order if they really are like that..!

I agree with not purchasing from Cackle. My sister and I ordered chicks in February to have delivered in March. She lives in North Carolina and I drove up to get my share of the chicks we ordered. When delivery day came and went with no chicks. I called Cackle and I was told that some of the chicks we ordered were on backorder and would not ship until the middle of May. Well, we never received any notification that the chicks were backordered. The girl I talked to was very rude and said she knew that we had received notice of the delay in the mail because the girl that handled the orders always did her job. I asked why they did not notify us by phone to maybe let us order different chicks. She said we were mailed a notice that the chicks we ordered were on backorder. I knew I was getting nowwhere with the knowitall on the phone, so I cancelled the order. A week later we received a notice that the chicks were backordered and the week after that I got the refund check. I will NEVER purchase any chicks from that hatchery!!!I have had great results from Ideal, Strombergs and Shook Poultry in North Carolina.

I had an awful experience with Cackle this spring too. Pretty much the same thing. Placed an internet order, heard NOTHING. I had emailed a few days later to see if I could add to the order, heard nothing, heard nothing. I finally called and they couldn't find the order. It took me nearly 10 days to get through.

The woman was nice on the phone, but I was in a real bind. I had put together an order for a few different people, including one family wanting 4-H birds. By the time I found out that Cackle didn't have my order I couldn't find anyone with pullets that would be old enough for fair. Thank goodness I had picked up some straight run chicks from the feed store 8 weeks earlier of that breed. I ended up selling them to the family.

I got a letter 2 weeks later with an invoice and a handwritten "canceled per customer request". So at least they canceled my order! Even though they couldn't find it at first.

I spent about 2 days trying to find someone with any standard breed pullets available in time for the fair. Not a fun day. I felt absolutely awful, but it all worked out. (But I'm still ticked, cause my buffs would have been 4 months old by now. I ordered replacements from another hatchery but they don't hatch until the 23rd!)

I love meyer. I've ordered from them for 5 years and have had no problems. We had a few of our buckeyes and cochins not make it on our first order this year. A couple were gone when I opened the box and some others didn't look very well. They just told me to call after 48 hours and let me know what the final count was and they put a credit on my account.

I can't wait for this next shipment!
