I have a ton of roosters, but I seperated them all from their hens a while ago. Needed to give the poor girls' backs a break. Plus I was tired of gathering eggs from so many pens. My girls are all relaxing now at the hen spa - aka the layer pen :D

Ah I love doing that. Sometimes when the girls are broody or just being mated too much I'll bring them home and put them in the layer pen too....

I had a Buff Opington rooster till our neighbors Huskie jumped the 7 foot fence and killed him. The kids had been climbing over the fence when we were gone and the dog followed. Dog has a new home now.

Hi Everyone! I'm from Manteca, so I guess this is the right thread!! Anyway, I have just posted an ad on Craigslist, and thought I would post here too. If this is the wrong spot, feel free to move my post, I'm just trying to reach local people though!! I have a beautiful 24 week old Black Australorp pullet that I need to re-home. She is super healthy and robust, but she is the leader of my flock of 3 and she is making too much noise each day. I live in town with a small backyard, and it's just too much noise. She just started laying last week and I've been told she will settle down after awhile, but I'm getting an ulcer worrying about the neighbors! She is very friendly and raised as a pet from day 1, so I would like to see her go to a nice home, where they wont eat her! If you know of anyone, please let me know...Thanks so much! Deanna

I had a Jersey Giant she was black and would have been so beatiful but the neihbors dog got her. I look out in the back and can just see her still back there, oh well. My buff is a loud talking girl but seems to be settling down, she was lounder than a rooster and would yell up a storm and then start grazing. She is a character, Eva, the dog got Wall. I have Speedie a little Dominque. My girls, lov em.

Hi Everyone,
It's me, Chicken Steve. I Live in the Central Valley, Modesto is where I was hatched and live. I've got seven Yard Birds out digging up the yard looking for worms, I'm sure. I was looking for some other feathered friends in the area. It's nice to share stories and problems that are local and may affect my little flock of down town girls. We wish we were all out in the country side outside of town but this has been our home and we have raised two kids here too. We have two Araucanas and two others are pure, a RIR and a Australorp and the others are a mix. look forward to meeting many of you, if only on line.
