There's also a Northern California thread that is very active and friendly. One person on there is in Woodland. I'm in NW Yolo County. Where did you get your Barred Rocks?

I got the chicks from chickens for backyards. I'm not sure which hatchery they are from. We had one that had problems with pasty butt but we have been successful in keeping her vent clean and she's doing better. She's a lot smaller than the other two, however. Is that normal?

Chicks vary in size. That's normal. If it's small due to poor health, it may not thrive. Or it may be an individual that is simply smaller than the rest.
