California - Northern

I have been fighting a cold for a few days. I have to go to the new place and grade for the first chicken coop and map out the run. Tomorrow I will get busy.
Ugh colds are the worst. How much acreage did you get with your new place? Have you met any of your neighbors?

1.88 acres at the new place. I have not met anyone there yet. Hope they like the rooster

He is not very loud though.

Cooper12 congrats on the house! Moving is never fun, but it is yours now to do what you would like with it. 12 coops?

Last move for us was the worst. Built our house about 50' behind the mobile that was on the lot when we bought it. Moving 3 forks at a time is a killer.

Don't know how it will end but loaded some eggs this morning. I'll check in a week.

Quote: It's a reproduction made in the USA! They have really reasonable pricing. I'm waiting for an email to see if they sell wholesale, I'd love to carry them in my store, but otherwise I'm going to order some more. They have a great selection, lots of categories! http://www.thevintagesignstore.com
A friend offered to buy a few of my Gary (black copper marans roo) pictures (some have Betty in them too). She plans on printing them out for her kitchen?? I was so flattered! Made my day!
Your pictures are perfect for home decor! Do you sell off your website for photography? I'd add some of these and see how they go. I use to mount the photo on foam board and then cut a pieced of corrugated metal and mount the photograph on the foam board onto that. A really nice look for both modern decor and rustic.
I just got Keys

I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to see pics, do you get to move right in? Yippeeee!

Quote: Molly and I bought B.ig O.le B.ird on sale from Jeffers. It makes them lay better, according to the label.

I am starting to get eggs from the EO Basque and they do not have light. I am expecting eggs from the Partridge Penedesenca pullet and the Dorking crosses in the next couple of months.

I bet Molly has more the 30 pullets too!

I do the same here, for a short outage I just throw a blanket over everything to retain heat (of course you have to be home for that in case power comes back on). For long term, we have a generator. For an emergency, I just go to the car adapter. Haven't really had any problems so far. With karma, if you are prepared, nothing happens, LOL.

My ducks arrived yesterday, of course mine are nearly grown. I always end up driving to the sort facility in W. Sac. It saves them an extra day in shipping boxes. They ALWAYS just miss the only truck that comes up the hill, one per day.

Hi there, I am reading thru this thread backwards.. and this caught my eye (from 4 weeks ago). I have been trying and trying to find out how to pick up chicks next year at the sort facility in Sac. instead of waiting the extra day for delivery up to me in Jackson (they also ALWAYS miss the truck up here). I have tried talking to the local post office, they say you can't get into the sort facility! Is there a phone number, contact name, anything so I can go there to pick them up instead of waiting the extra day?

Thanks for any help, the chicks aren't due until after March.. but I want to be pre-prepared!

I had their phone number, but they don't answer it and don't return VM's. Have your local post office call them, they will bring your birds up to the Customer Pick-up window. You just go in the main door where people go to mail packages and stuff and they will have your birds there. They've also told me if you go after hours (5pm), you just go to the bulk window and ring the bell, you can still pick up your birds.

This is them.
