California - Northern

I think that's the same cross I have she's solid black except her wattles. Gonna crack the egg tonight to see what's inside

What kind of comb does she have? I have 2 OE's that are 1/4 FBCM and 3/4 Ameraucana. One has a straight comb and lays a dark brown egg (6-7). The other one has a pea comb and lays a variety of different colors of olive/khaki green eggs. I love having the variety so was thrilled that I got one of each.

Hope you remain safe. I hate where I live this time of the year. The irrigation district will not sell us water and is such a big fire danger.

The smoke column is gone now, just smoke remaining. They finally said where it was, sounds like some campers setting them off near the river/campground.

The lawn is squishy wet, can is full of water, neighbors have been invited. we're just waiting for dark.

I've never had a star gazer, but all of my chicks go on vitamins when they hatch for about a week.
I had one this year. I gave it vitamins but the Freedom Starter is so good it fixes most of them within three days. I Even had one with leg problems that went away without splinting but that probably has more to do with the ecoglow contact heater since they have to push up into it to keep warm.

One of the SG Dorkings or Dels that I hatched for Kim had Spradle leg though; She splinted it and it was ok.

I have never had one with curled toes either but that is likely due to the breeds I hatch.

Have fun!

That is good news about the fire.

It looks to be a pea comb, it's very small and black. She is the most skittish chicken I have ever seen can't get too close lol unless it's dark and I sneak up on her.

not all olive eggers lay olive eggs. pea combs are good indicators but not absolute. straight combs generally give brown eggs though I have seen numerous examples that suggest otherwise

Yeah she has a pea comb, oh well it gives me an excuse to hatch more chicks. I'm going to break open the egg when I get home tonight to check it out.

Shh! Do not tell the AM breeders, but the pea comb is associated with the blue egg shell Gene--it is not linked.
