I want some of those so bad!! They are so creepy/cool looking!! There is a guy on Ebay selling some Ayem Cemani -split Lavender eggs (what ever that is?). 6 for $85 W/free shipping. If I had better shipped egg hatches I might think about it...

My guess is that they are crossed with something like Lavender AMs to increase egg laying. Ayem Cemani only lay 60 eggs a year

We have orange smoked filled skies. Last report was 75 acres on the other side of the river. Hope the breeze dies down soon.

I have a question, when an OE starts laying is the first egg supposed to be olive colored? Seems to be brown not olive

not all olive eggers lay olive eggs. pea combs are good indicators but not absolute. straight combs generally give brown eggs though I have seen numerous examples that suggest otherwise

Jason, break out the Poly-vi-sol. It frequently helps that type of chick. A drop twice a day and it may pull through.

for it to recover in a day or so.

I had a few rong

way pippers that did the star gazing for awhile - two straightened out and are now fine (can't tell which ones any more), one sort of did but then got crooked beak and runs around in circles all the time... Brain damage on that one for sure!

I suspect the odd position makes them rear back instead of leaning forward - it takes them a bit longer to figure things out.
