Pretty pretty. Is there a chicken at the end of that rainbow?

No there were a basket of amazing eggs!

My quotes are being weird so I can't quote the other comments

Thanks for the compliments!
Yes we live there, but no it doesn't belong to us, it's a family members property. I'm working on a five photo stitch of the entire rainbow end to end :)

After much rumination, I believe I have settled on a name for the new property (21 days of escrow left). It needs to be something that will match well with the name for my current place, which is Olmstead Homestead, AND maybe reflect its ....purpose.... Egg sales and a haven for my roosters.

Because i am buying it to have a neighbor-complaint-free rooster zone, I started with "Rooster Haven" and then "Roosters' Roost" but selling eggs from there might be sorta odd. :/ Flat-landers might think I was selling rooster eggs, or sumpin' stoopid. I nixed "Rooster Acres" for the same reason.

The creek is seasonal; it's dry now, but apparently really flows during the wet months of the year. "Dry Creek Acres" wasn't totally suitable. Maybe "Critter Creek Farm." Nah.... But I did like that one for awhile. "Many Branches Ranch" was also a possibility.

Until I settled on "Rugged Roost Ranch."

Whatcha think?

I like it, I can picture a scrolling "RRR" on your new gate.

I like the new name!

I bet you cannot wait to get the new coops started too.

Yeah, playa dust is bad for the eyes, and the hands, and the feet, and pretty much everything else.
I have gone with friends as part of a village, been part of a small group doing an art installation, hosted our own theme camp, gone alone, taken my mom, tagged along with my parents, and returned alone knowing many throughout the city.

Maker Faire is a great substitute, without the dust!

Behind on BYC. Spent a day and a half helping clean playa dust off everything, then headed to Santa Cruz to watch my granddaughter for the rest of this week. At almost two, she is on the go nonstop. She sings to herself a lot. We came back from a playground with her belting out songs all the way. Keeps me on my toes.

Your dept of Burner experience is impressive. DH confesses he harbors a burning desire to create an art car at some point. Jack recently built a mad max electric wheelchair for my brother, a quad. Next year DH will skip Black Rock City as we have a big trip planned plus a reunion in ND. I suspect he might use the year off to rig something up. He has a rare upper motor neuron condition and in time his mobility will decrease (he noticed a decline in this ability to get around this year over last). Perhaps by 2015 Burn he can craft something to do dual duty and get himself around the playa in style! I'd enjoy helping create something, too.

Here is a yahoo article talking about GFF and rare chickens. The news casters have their facts all wrong. I found it amusing how wrong they were.

The Lady was an Editor for a food magazine too! And then they started talking about cool ways to cook chicken after saying that the Ayam cemani were only for collectors....Duh! She even mentioned a chicken dish that cost $80.00 per plate.

The quail can't be exposed to chicken poo. The chickens can get as much quail feed and poo as you like. Put your quail OFF the ground on wire or washable floor . Make sure the roof is covered s the chickens that perch on it can't poo on your quails. Chickens eat the dropped quail feed . I should have shown you my quail coops!

From what I understand that solves it. If you have more questions ask.
Ok, now I'm a little stressed. Why can't quail be exposed to chicken poop? I still have my 2 button quail with my 2 chicks that hatched at the same time. I've never heard this before.
