California - Northern

Thanks. I have the manual that came with it, just haven't read it. :hide     I don't have any chemical cleaners. I have vinegar, peroxide, castile soap, citrus based cleaner... any of those work? I should buy some Oxine.

I see I did not reply to this! Capa between hatchings in styro bators I bleach with ox and put them out in the strong sun for UV treatment. Styrafoam is very hard to clean and you can't soak the mechanical parts so I figure that helps.

Thanks C - Well if she does die I definitely will. I hate mysteries.

Has anyone ever heard of or used this product?

It seems to treat a million different types of things. Not sure if that is always good, but if you are always guessing what the problem is a good ole ZAP everything is the American way..... Right?

Ali I wasn't trying to say your girl was going down I have much hope for her! Was talking to 8machines too. When I reread that it sounded depressing.

We had a funny now scare this morning. We got home late last night and nutmeg was missing. I went straight to bed and did not know while poor mario looked for her in the dark for hours.

It turns out she went to sleep with the big girls in the main coop! Mario was so funny this morning swearing a blue streak at a chicken while she snuggled him. Snicker daddy came over and scolded her too.

So now to find the nutmeg sized hole on the covered porch.

Nutmeg says this would not be a problem if we stopped ejecting her from the house!

Yashar has some information and pictures. It say: Generous numbers. # 3 - Colloncas (very nice line) Colloncas are one of the original and most ancient breeds of the Mapuche Indian culture of Chile. They produce generous numbers of colourful eggs and like many South American fowl lay well into the winter. Some hens will produce a pale sea foam hued egg, others robin blue, ash grey and even lilac. A single pair of Colloncas may produce hens that each lay a different colour.
Colloncas are best known for innate tameness. They enjoy being held but unlike Silky fowl, which also enjoy human companionship, the Colloncas is completely winter hardy and can evade predators ably. It is a fairly strong flier and one of the more quiet breeds. Colloncas are very good at tick and fly control and are traditionally kept with sheep and llamas. The Colloncas is one of the two primary ancestors of the Araucana. It is advisable that the poultier keep at least two roosters with a flock of hens, three is the ideal number as Colloncas have strong pair bonds and the roosters work in cooperation to defend and chaperone hens and chicks. As a rule, true Colloncas roosters do not fight with one another and are never aggressive with people.

They sound amazing. Interesting that the roosters work together and they recommend 3

Lol. I am good with the comments even if you were to say she needed to be sent in for a necro prematurely.

Your chickens talk to you more than mine do!

I found a light Brahma this morning with a foot that looked bigger than normal, they get junk packed in the webs often so I clean them out a couple of times a week. Poor girl has bumble foot.

While taking her to our bathroom the kitten sees her and is hot on our heals up the stairs. Rose hasn't met a chicken yet but she thinks she's up to it. I finally get kitten and chicken separated and get her foot cleaned up and bandaged. I was thinking to myself "That's not so hard."

I'm watching her walk around the room and her gait is strange. Turns out I had wrapped her rear toe in the bandage, I guess it was a little harder than I thought. She's out now telling all her friends about how brave she was!

That is a great story!

I hope her foot gets better soon.
