California - Northern

Today was the first chance I've had in a week or so to actually spend a few minutes in the coops with daylight. It looks like they have chosen the "deep feather" method. One of the bantams strolled out of the coop and had to take inventory, I didn't recognize her as the other SLWB she is missing so many feathers.

Oo, take a pic and post it on the worst molt picture contest thread! I love the before/after pics. Now I'm not so worried about all the feathers my english orp is dropping. It's put her in quite the mood; she's decided to take out all her frustration on my poor Swedish flower hen, chasing and visciously pecking with no warning whatsoever. Hopefully she'll calm down soon.

I have my 9 in an outdoor pen during the day but inside in a water trough brooder at night. I have a group of Bresse and Langshans that are headed to the farm one day this next week. The PP's will take their place in the aviary pen with the secure XL dog igloo coop. They are anxious to come inside at about 6 PM. This evening, I opened the door and they all stampeded out onto the patio before I could shut the door. Then they just stood there waiting to be carried into the house. I love these birds!

can you send pics of the dogloo coop. I have one I want to convert but don't really have any idea how to make it secure.

Quote: I don't have any spare LF BR, but I do have extra LF RIR & NH girls. I am just starting to get pullet eggs from the two pens, so most of them are at POL.

ETA - I have quite a few other older pullets and young hens I need to cut back on as well from multiple breeds.

I need to clean up the area this next weekend and I'll take some pics of it. It is only for my grow outs so I don't have a roost in it, yet. My husband rigged up the door and he really needs to find a more permanent closure.
