Considering the recent snowfall and subsequent icy roads, if I had waited just one more day before trying to drive anywhere, I MIGHT have not totaled my ride. However, as of yesterday, the ice on the road to Thistle Dew Ranch still had long stretches of ice requiring snow tires and/or 4-wheel drive. Another friend - who drives a 4-wheel drive pick-up - has been giving me rides to The Ranch every 2 or 3 days.
I have learned I picked a popular icy spot spot for vehicular rollovers.
"We" also think I may have suffered a mild concussion in my accident. Untreated, of course.... <*sigh*> I wish I could make an MP4 or .wav file of the voice mail message I left for HHandbasket immediately after the accident, asking her to please pick up some feed for my flock(s), Not sure it would have been understandable past the first sentence, though. She said she got the extremely calm "I totaled the Quest but I'm okay - I rolled it on my way to Mt. Aukum (General Store)" The next bit she could suss out through hysterical sobbing was "...so my (expletive deleted) chickens won't starve."
I don't think I have ever labeled any of my poultry - individually OR collectively- with that particular Anglo Saxon adjective.
Even with the past two days of near-60 temps, there is unmelted snow and ice in a few places on my home property and quite a lot of it at the Ranch. Angus the gander came running at Treat Time and took a corner on some ice. Whoa! I laughed so much at him when he lost his footing and slid on his belly a few feet before he recovered. When he got back up onto his feet, he honked once with indignation. At least that's what I imagined.
I dislike being beholden to others for transportation,
