California - Northern

I just have to say that bantams are so freaking adorable. Oh. My. Goodness. I want more!! BUT I really adore the lacing of the feathers- no contest on those pretty feathers. On eye candy alone I totally have to add some full sized laced Wyandottes. Sealed. Done deal. hehe

Amy - It wasn't mentioned, but you want to store your eggs at room temp., not in the fridge.

And you should enter this picture in the calender contest:

Yes! An excellent idea.
She looks like a kid playing Airplane or Superman!

I think it is crazy!

Animal Control had me give up my Roos and now I have a SG Dorking Pullet that squawks louder then the rooster crowed!

I have finally named her--she is Mimi for Screaming Mimi!

.

I moved her into my pen with the three Basque pullets last night because she seemed to be having a harder time with the big girls. This morning she was sitting on the nest box in the pen and was looking very happy sitting on the fake egg. I gave them some left over broccoli and she came out and ate some. Later she was squawking again!

Silly chickens and sillier chicken ordinances....

Same thing for me! Those pullets bawk and squawk so much, but at least it's not at 4am. That's when the cockerel used to start in!

Now that we have an all-girl coop, The white Leghorn has gotten very, well... shall we say masculine? Saw her mounting the BO, and from the sounds of protestation during the day, she's not the only victim. At least the Leghorn is still laying! Going to put her into solitary for a few days when I introduce my younger pullets to the coop. See if I can't knock the queen off her throne for a while!

I love that puppy. She is a lot of work though! She can SIT, learning to Stay. Teaching her EAT (she has to sit, stay and wait for the command EAT before she can consume a treat or her meal), we are also working on Go On and No. Also Heel but that one is slow going since she is so young- she wants to take off on the leash lol.

Actually I did have them squawking at 4:00 am last winter--that is when the light went on.

The Roos were in the Garage until 7:30 on weekdays and 8:30 on weekends.

No lights for my girls then!!!

We put our guy in the garage as well (got idea from you!) and he still started in early, but it was muffled at least. Our nearest neighbor didn't mind his crowing at all, but we sure weren't getting much sleep! Found a great home for him, which I thought he'd like better than the garage!

Neighbors two doors down have a roo that starts by 4:30 every morning, so I think that's where he learned it. Theirs is far enough away that we can sleep through it!

Awwwwwww! That pic with her tongue out is so sweet!

The best command my dog knows is Go To Bed! Keeps her out from under foot when we're in the house. She's big, not enough room!

Quote: This year there will be no lights for them. It bothered me when they started in that early. The roos here started at about 5:15 or so. It did not bother me because I am usually up by then.

This year I am relying on pullets to lay eggs in the winter. Also, I have enough now that even the older ones should keep me in eggs.

The Dorking will probably settle down in a couple of weeks but she did start going at it at about 6:00 this morning. Mimi is very sweet though.

She's too adorable.

The two EE's look like they're gossiping. You should also submit both these pictures to greeting card companies. They do buy photos. Such great photos! You make me want to invest in a good camera again. Haven't had a good one since things went digital. I wonder if my old lenses will still fit the new cameras. Have a ton of money on lenses.
I entered these 2 photos for the BYC calender. :D These EE pic is going to make it's way on my wall. I love it. LOL
