Just watched it, great show! I enjoyed it very much. Except where he states that chickens hatch fully feathered (yes I knew what he meant

), it was very informative and very interesting.

LOL I just returned from a trip to yellowstone, wow montana, idaho & wyoming are incredible places for photography! I'll try to find time to watch today, maybe after I have my root canal!

Well, it finally happened! My 23 wk old BW Ameraucana roo (Lemon Drop AKA LD AKA Big Boy) that I got from Jeremy started crowing! He crowed one short crow 2 or 3 days ago and then today spent 15 minutes perfecting it with crow after crow. Unfortunately, we have a noise ordinance here in Antioch and neighbors who will call the city on us if we have a roo. If only he had been the rare rooster who only crows one time once a day, he could have stayed here with his harem.

Does anyone in the Bay area want him? Kim has said that she will take him if no one else wants him. I am willing to drive an hour to deliver him to you. My husband is heading back to Santa Cruz for the week later this afternoon and could deliver him anywhere between here and there. Here are some new pics of him including one in the sunshine to show how gorgeous his colors are! He is missing his long tail feathers thanks to a couple of my older hens.

I could handle him crowing once or twice in the AM but today he crowed 15 min. straight at 7:15 in the morning. Our city doesn't ban roosters but we do have a noise ordinance. I know the two neighbors on each side of me and they might not be against him especially if I pass them fresh eggs. But we live on a culdesac with two other culdesacs behind us. We have three neighbors in the back and I don't know them. One of them has a dog that barks nonstop for hours every evening. They better not report me for chickens! IMO, constant dog barking is way more annoying than a few crows and the egg song. I'm waiting to hear back from Kim to see if she wants him. If she doesn't, it's off to Craigslist for him!

I agree! The lady behind me (I also live in a culdesac) turned me in for my rooster and then got 2 huge pitbulls that bark non-stop!

My neighbors in my culdesac are awesome and the one person behind me is great she is really into sustainable living and loves the chickens but the other one... Unfortunately it only takes one.

The dog behind us sound like a medium sized dog but it sure has stamina! I'm amazed that it can bark nonstop for hours! I don't know whether they work evenings or what. Maybe they are sitting in their house with their TV blaring?! Our AC has been out this summer so it is especially annoying because we can't close our windows to block the sound. There is another dog in one of the yards behind us that goes crazy whenever we come anywhere close to the fence. He looks like a boxer or boxer mix. One of our Speckled Sussex chicks flew over the fence and we thought for sure that she was a goner! The dog was barking like crazy! It ended up that she flew into the next door neighbor's yard and was hiding under a bush. They were on vacation so we just went in and rescued her. Their whole backyard borders the boxer's yard and the fence is a cyclone fence that the dog can see through. I don't know how they can enjoy their backyard with the dog lunging at the fence and barking at them! I'm glad that we have solid wood fences! I sure wouldn't want that dog to be constantly eyeing my chooks!
