California - Northern

Got some pictures this morning.

My Cream Legbar pullet:

Lavender Ameraucana - she is 28 weeks and still looks nowhere close to laying. I think my cream legbar is going to beat her to it.

My huge olive egger girl that should be starting back up soon as she's finished molting.

And my 9 month old barnevelder pullet that thinks she is too pretty to have to lay an egg.

My favorite new barnevelder cockerel I'm growing out. He is 4 months old.

The other guy has some tail fluff and he's molting his wing feathers right now.

I owe you all some too.

#7 Ovation was Zooweemama's post about her Banty Dude post in the Show Off Your Rooster Thread

The Day was Sunny for the most part. We started off with cute Kitten in the Christmas tree pictures. CapayValleyChick shared breeding tips for us and that post got 1 thumbs up.

Beautiful and scary pictures of an osprey. ZooweMama shared some pictures of her Egg Bounty and we saw a picture of Gary pining away for His love Betty. Feathersprings watches Osprey's catch fish in the Ocean. Liz9910 would live to see that!

I posted a link to information about a supplement being added to the Standard of Perfection book.

Papa Brooder posted from Home Depot! He was looking for the carpet runner to seal a nest box lid. CapayValleyChick replied and Jeff found it!

Happy Chooks' Broody Hen laid her first post molt egg!

Debs_Flock was back to posting after being away.

Happy Chooks was sympathetic.

Cooper12 can help with getting Bamboo on weekends and then he showed us a picture of the hawk that killed his chickens. By the way, I watched a show once that had a little gun in the camera.....

Elite Poultry had a surprise early delivery of his new coops. They look very nice.

Debs_flock reminded us when to set Quail eggs on the 15th for the NYD hatch.

moved a broody back into the flock without them fighting.

We ended the night with a couple of posts about supplemental lighting.

Love this thread!

Home Depot tip:

Set your store as the default. Find what you wand online and order it for store pickup. You can pay for it using Pay Pal!

Today I searched BYC to find out what type of Sand is recommended for runs(Play Sand). I then Logged into Home Depot, found play sound and used Pay Pal to pay for it.

It was all ready when I got there! One of my fastest Home Depot trips yet!

Hi folks,

I am getting ready to post a bunch of birds for sale - hope to get it done tonight. In the meantime, I have been through all of my juvies from my breeding projects, and have a bunch of birds available including Black Mottled Japanese, Olandsk Dwarfs, Bantam Cochins from my calico project (mostly pullets!!!), a gorgeous pair of white bantam langshans, and a bunch of mixed bantam cochin pullets and hens.

I also have some cockerels to rehome - no charge - a very sweet buff silkie with a wonky wing, a white polish "sport" from a color project (the only non-bantam of the bunch) and a sort-of cuckoo/sort-of red-brown cochin with an amazing disposition from an abandoned crele cochin project. Let me know if any of these strike your fancy - nothing makes a better Christmas present than a chicken! (OK, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration...)

The postings will all be in the appropriate "buy-sell-trade" section, just posting this here because...well because I am lazy, and it is sunny out, and I have coops to clean, and sunshine to enjoy, and chickens to play with! But I really will try to get the postings up tonight. Anyway, if any of this sounds interesting feel free to pm me for more info!

Hope everyone is enjoying this amazing day.

and how much sq. footage of pen will each bag cover? All of my pens for my bantams are 15'by 20'.

I am working on two small runs. For your space, you would be better off going to an Agragate place and get 1/2 of a yard or so. They will deliver it but often have a min. amount. There is a place in Davis that will let you bag up your own. I am going to have to do that for the big chicken yard. Hopefully I can make it through December....and that we do not have another Pineapple Express or Atmospheric River....

I would like to see the Mottled Japanese bantams pictures please. I'm looking toward those for some new blood for my line, so I don't get any inbreeding.
