California - Northern

we are starting to get what I like to call Chunky Rain. Meaning snow level is probably about 250-500 feet above us.

The radar loop showed the snow level dropping with the storm. It is cold after it too.

It is very windy and rainy . I left poor Huey where he was with the exception of moving him to the other side of the fence. That will also trigger my flood light. I did not notice this last night so it may of been late. poor guy was probably sleeping there.
If I see anything tonight I will have a clear shot. Last thing I need is Racoons or skunks or possums around.

Jason, you need a trap, asap. I got one off Amazon for around $35, it was here within 3 days. I immediately caught 3 racoons & 3 oppossum. I've only had one hit since then (got a bird through the fence). A few cans of 3/$1 cat food from WalMart, that trap has more than paid for itself.

Happy Belated Birthday Laura!

I just got home from the Pleasant Valley vet, there was a little slush in the raindrops on the windshield, although the temp was 45.

Quote: Yes, I noticed the slush around Bone's Roadhouse. I was hoping it would stop, otherwise my son in Cedar Grove is going to want to borrow my 4WD.

9-10 would be great for me. I can make my schedule work around you guys, since I'm the non-contributing member, just the receiver

I don't know if this is appropriate to ask you all to keep a friend in your thoughts and prayers today..

...My son's 4-H poultry leader had a terrible thing happen because of this rain last night.

A single fence board came loose and a neighbors dog's got into her yard.

The dogs killed 18 chickens, a pair of hand raised turkeys (breeding pair) and her prize winning geese and gander (breeding pair just under 3 years old). I'm just so sad for her. This has kind of made me realize how fortunate I am and made me stop complaining about the time and effort it costs to care for my chickens. I hope none of you lose chickens or pets to any more preditors.
