California - Northern

I was just checking the Siskiyou County CL. It is probably some one on here, but they are selling BCM eggs. I know chickengirl was looking for pullets earlier and these are only eggs.

Where's the splashes? How many cockerels/pullets did you end up with?

Kathy,

after my chicks were born, I moved them to the grow out shed. One morning I went down to check on All my babies. The power in the shed had went out. I lost a lot of chicks that night. It was a few months ago. I'm still sick about it. I only ended up with four barnenvelders.... None of the slash made it..
Crappy crappy crappy!.
Oh, I'm sorry - how awful. I felt bad for losing 1 pullet.
Yesterday my cat showed up after being gone for a week. He had a broken back leg, think he got hit by a car. Rushed him to emergency, it was bad news, they were going to have to amputate the leg, going to cost a fortune. So on the day of my daughter's 3rd birthday party, I had to have my cat put to sleep. I had hoped this year was going to start out better but that's not a very good start.

Betty kicked an egg out of the nest. Throw it in the garbage or put it back or leave it alone? The eggs she is sitting on were all fresh. We are on Day 3 of her sitting. All eggs were laid on Day 1 and Day 2.
Put it back. If she kicks it out later in incubation, candle it to see if there is a chick inside. Some broodies are smart about knowing which ones are developing and which ones aren't.
Since she grabbed it I numbered it and put it back. If she steals more, should I steal them away? The hatch dates could be all crazy. And oh my gosh if that was TJ egg...the chick daddy...hahah a Marans/TJ cross? Or BO/TJ cross? What a funny looking chick. I figure I would rather let her be broody on eggs that aren't 'important' in case she abandons ship at some point.
Yes, remove any unmarked eggs daily from now on. Otherwise you have a mess of hatch dates.
I will be putting food and water in front of Betty. I personally don't ever see her leave her nest but she could be. The strange egg is an EE egg that she stole and put under herself. It's mostly blue. Looks like the EEs brown coating has become very very light.

Are there any signs that I should be looking for to make sure Betty is ok? I don't want her to become dehydrated, or not poop or not eat etc...Wasn't sure if there were any thing I should be watching out for. Her health is more important to me than the eggs. <3 Thanks guys!
Her broody instinct will be to sneak it - you probably won't see her eat/drink much, but she will be. Broodies also aren't laying or moving around much, so they don't need as much food. You will however know when she has pooped. Broody poo is the most disgusting thing on the planet.

You will smell it long before you see it.

Don't worry - She'll be fine.
Miranda, my Blue Marans laid a nice egg today. My Oldest DD rummages through the egg carton and will only use the biggest ones. I told her that the eggs were bigger than she thought. I checked today and the smallest one was a Medium egg.

This one from Miranda weighs 75G and is a Jumbo egg!
Nice egg!
This just happened...LOL. I guess Afrodite wants to join the band.

One of the kids left the side garage door open.

I don't know if you can tell from this picture but it looks to me like these Blue Copper Marans girls I got from Jeff are getting closer to paying in chocolate! What do ya'll think?
