California - Northern

It is chilly here. Can not give the chickens water quite yet. Lines are still frozen. we still have a few patches of Thursday nights lite snow. Mostly in the shady spots.

Molly I will call you. I am leaving here around 9 am.

Thank you Jason, it was great seeing you today. I'll keep you posted on the eggs...

i took the other chick from Betty. I don't think Betty wanted her. She would tuck the black one under but this one she didn't seem to let hide under her like the black one.
This happened to 2 of mine that went where they weren't supposed to. I slathered on neosporin after I cleaned it with warm water best I could. Recovered fine but were in confinement until completely healed. One was a roo and is in chicken heaven and the other should start laying anytime:) mine were much worse it was a horrible sight, down to the skull, I don't know how they made it. Chickens can be really scary, pecking each others heads like this :(

Forgot to mention we call her princess because it left a scar like a ring around her head where feathers don't grow and it looks like a crown :)

On further exploration, I found two more! There is a bit of a difference in color so I think they're both laying! One is slightly darker but I'm happy with both. Honestly, from those who know..., what's your thoughts on color quality and or what can I expect? Hard to get a picture to show how dark they .....

Poor little chick. She is eating and grooming herself. So that is encouraging ...

Ahh!

Yes, poor little chick!

You are doing a great job with him or her! Eating and doing chicken things is a good sign!
