for Molly. Hope to hear from you soon.

Finally got my new chicks settled in to their first "nursery" after taking an individual photo of each of them. All arrived in good condition, some are a bit smaller than the others, but that could be due to breed difference. I thought that they wouldn't be able to send any of the Gold Campine pullets that had been ordered, but apparently they just couldn't send all 10. I got five of them and five of the substituted Gold Lakenvelders. Happy, Happy!!

Clucks and coos!

Congratulations on your new babies!

Quote: Plunge them into ice water when they are done cooking and leave them there until they are COMPLETELY cold. I boil eggs straight from the coop and they are easy to peel.

I have the perfect solution for eggs that are difficult to peel.

You feed the white with bits of shell stuck to your dogs...........................and I eat boiled yolks. It's my favorite part anyway.

My broody hens have taken care of my chick fix. I have six new babies in two different nests; two pullets are sharing the two newest hatchlings in my grow-out coop.

The other four were hatched by a proven broody hen. They'll be fine. I do worry about the two chicks. (These pullets are BCM / Silkie mixes and apparently the silkie side is STRONG in them - they went broody a month after they started laying. They were gifts; five pullet and two cockerel chicks. The cockerels went to Freezer Camp and a pullet went to a friend. I kept four pullets. Wonder why the other two gals haven't gone broody?

Not that I need them to go broody... My new house silkie went broody and I gave her five flock eggs.

But I don't have to go covet chicks at any feed store - I can go to the feed store that JUST carries feed products (and a few cute knick-knacks at the counter).

These are the rules. It would be up to a mod I think.

Rule # 11 - Luring to other forum

Luring members to other forums is not allowed and we prohibit discussing drama that happens on other forums. As IF anyone could lure us away!!!

I never cease to be amazed by how horrified people are when they realize where their food comes from. Like the chicken breasts are fresh plucked off trees and eggs fall from the sky. LOL
You know I hadn't thought about it too much until one day my mom says she doesn't like honey because it is just bee spit! Really mom? Okay, whatever!

I imagine an old white van, a creepy guy opening the side door and tempting me with baby chicks...
