I sold some blue andalusians for 15 each, they had to go, panicing everyone else in the flock. But 25 for a good layer sounds fair.

Feeling lucky we only have rain on this side of the hill so far, they are getting snow a couple of ridges towards the coast.

I bought 3 new temp/hydros from Incubator warehouse and one is way off. I put all three in the same bator to check for accuracy and one is at least 10% lower on humidity and .8 degrees lower on temp. Planning to return it. I could not figure out why I could not get the humidity up in the bator and it turned out to be the gauge. Luckily that bator did not have any eggs in it at the time.

Were all 3 the same kind? Which one? I need to order mine today but I would sure hate to get one that is off.

This is a great group. Welcome!!! I live on the low lands (our town is 1' above sea level in places) but got to Tahoe 3-4 times a year. Love the mountains.

This is what it has about thermometers/hygrometers:

CALIBRATION! YES! It’s IMPORTANT!
Calibrate the thermometer/s you are using for your Incubator. I use 3 thermometers! You need to make sure your thermometer is reading correctly, Even one degree may cause serious problems with your hatch! A simple method without specialized instruments and knowledge is to compare your thermometer/hygrometer with other devices. If your thermometer (or the one you compare it with) goes at least from 0°C to 100°C you can also calibrate it with crushed ice. The thermometer should read 32 degrees in a mixture of crushed ice and a little water. If it reads, say, 30 degrees, then you can either adjust the thermometer until it is correct (if the style of the thermometer permits adjustment), or else you will at least know your thermometer reads 2 degrees too cool and adjust your thinking--and your incubator--accordingly.

What's another thing or two in the world of chickens! I am constantly buying something for my chickens that I need and don't have. Last week it was generic monistat suppositories and this week it is thermometer/hygrometers! I wonder what next week will bring?!!!
