I had one more hatch today. smaller looks weaker too.

Duckling 11 hatched a bit ago and duckling 12 was zipping. There is one more with a pip! I set 15 and put 14 into lockdown.

Ducks cuddle more the chickens. They like to follow each other around too. I think I would like Ducks.

Urg.... I am going to Tahoe in April to get one last ski trip in. Any chance you could send some at the end of March?

Maybe 'split' is the best way to describe his feathers. Semi-frizzled?

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'd wait until he molts into his next set of feathers. On a bright note, I'd put money on the other being a pullet. I wouldn't worry about the comb at the moment.

Thanks Deb. We have been assuming the dark one is a pullet. Yay! Her comb has not grown that we can see. I've been feeding the same chick starter I used for my other girls. Do bantams require a different type of food than large fowl? Any special requirements?

Ooops, I guess I need to update my location. We used to live in 95842 -Sacramento address, but really Foothill Farms. Now, we actually live in Rio Linda as of March 1st. I found the cute, Rio Linda post office this week. Do you work from the Rio Linda PO? I'd be curious to know how they handle shipped eggs-hehe!

It's the perfect area for us because my husbands commute to work is 5 minutes and we're still close to everything. It is zoned AG and I can have all the chickens and roosters I want.

The neighbors all have horses, miniature-horses, chickens and/or goats. I feel like I'm living in a dream.

Aww.... I'm in 95838 - Del Paso Heights - but I deliver right up to the Rio Linda border. I wish we would have bought a house in an area we could have tons on chickens.... We live in the very corner of Citrus Heights, close to Fair Oaks and Old Auburn. Roseville is on one side of us, and Orangvale is on the other.

You gotta love that face, though!

I had one chick that I was SURE was a frizzle, she had feathers on her wings and shoulders that went the wrong way. However, when her adult feathers grew in they were all the right way.
