California - Northern

:yuckyuck   I'm just starting with breeding and only planned on breeding Langshans (started with 3 colors focusing mainly on blue & splash but now have all 4 colors), Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks,  and maybe 1 other breed.  Now we have an Am Bresse trio, 3 Cream Legbar pullets (need a cockerel for them), a quad of Welsummer chicks (I think 1 cockerel & 3 pullets), and want some kind of Marans for meat & eggs.  We plan on rotating the breeding groups and letting them free range when not in the breeding pens.  Does that mean I can add even more breeds to the list?!

Yes, you still have room :)
I have PLENTY of extra cream Legbar rooster. I would gladly give you one or TEN ;)

Put him with the girls in the Afternoon. He really only needs to be with them several times a week.....

If he becomes Dinner let me know. I have at least Four that are 5 weeks old.

Thank you Ron. That's what I've been doing. I have a few chicks in the brooder and when I let him free range in the day, I'm able to collect her egg.
I only have one laying Bresse hen...

oh these where chicks..
I will have some nice brown eggers if you want to hatch some

Hi I was wondering if there was anyone from the Sacramento / Yuba/ Sutter area? I'm a new home steader in a new area looking to meet people for trading livestock and or goods and possibly friendship. Thanks a lot. :)
I am in Roseville, and always looking for people to trade with. Unfortunately, I will probably only have chicken eggs and quail eggs. My garden won't be started for a while. I have too many projects started that I need to get "finished" so I can move on to the next one without having 6 things started and none of them ever quite finished.
Six Black Australorps have hatched! One more is pipping but not zipping...

At least one of them is Blue!

Awwwwww.... they are so sweet! I love the black ones when they shine in the sun.

Oh how exciting! I've always wanted lavender and lemon orps, can't wait to see the chicks!

Thank You!

#7 hatched over night and is in the brooder.

I opened the top of the incubator twice during the hatch. The last one last night was fairly long- took chicks out and tapped the un pipped eggs to see if I could get a chirp out of them. I then turned the pipped egg pip side up and tilted it better. humidity in the hatcher went down to 30% but quickly jumped back up to 70ish. There were no sticky chicks or shrink wrap.

I will candle and check the last 4 in there tonight.
Good luck and Gratz!
Hi and welcome, I am in Yuba county in the foothills. Alot of people here in Grass Valley/Oroville area also that are close.
Awesome! I am in Sutter County myself and look forward to getting to know you all. :)
We head to my mom and dads in Yuba City a couple of times a month. If anyone needs eggs, chicks etc run from Sonoma County to Sacramento area....or vice versa . We will be going that way next Tuesday and coming back Wed or Thurs.
I am in Yuba City as well. I don't need anything right now but may in the future. Do you or your family have need of oranges and lemons? Either fresh or dehydrated?

That's a grand place to start! I am the same way with too many projects going at once, for instance I went to TSC for a rabbit hutch and wound up with ducklings, and now have goslings on the way! Which means no rabbits till the babies are out of their hutches lol.
