California - Northern

I've got like 8 pages to catch up on but I want to get this posted asap.

I really want to feed the Freedom feed from King Feeds but there's no supplier in my area (Paradise). I talked to my hay supplier where I also buy my chicken feed and she said she needed to order 4 pallets of it, I think she said it comes out to 120 bags, so I asked her if I could get enough people to commit to that many would she be interested in bringing it in and she agreed.

I called King and got the # for the rep for Northern CA and she also gave me the # of a place in Gridley who is also willing to order it. He already orders their dog food so would bring in the Freedom line too but Vanella Farms in Durham is closer and I have to get hay for the horses there anyway so I'd like to see the feed there. Anyway, I have a Facebook page for my farm and made some phone calls to chicken keepers in my area and I've already have the commitment of about 40 bags but I'd like to get as many people as I can to ensure they'll stock it for us.

Durham would be convenient for anyone in the Chico/Paradise/Oroville/Durham and surrounding areas. If you're interested in feeding the GMO free, soy free feed but didn't have a source, lets pool together and get it in our area. PM me or respond here to what you'd commit to. A few more people who want a few bags should get a truck in next week.

I'm not selling this or making any money, I just really want to feed it to my chickens but don't have a supplier. If you've been interested in this feed and live in my neck of the woods, lets pull together and get it! :highfive:

I am interested but I'm so far from you guys and only have 12 chickens lol

Have you tried Bangor Feed? My sis-in-law's sister owns it. I think she will special order. She might even carry it for you, if several others want it.

Quote: You guys stepping out on us? That's why no ones around here at night, you hang out somewhere else. I thought I got the 20k post because everyone goes to bed early! Now I find out you move the party! No wonder I didn't even get a super cool graphic from Ron to celebrate! Where's the crybaby emoj! I hate not having access to those from the mobile version......hmmm, why do I feel like I'm talking to myself? You notice it doesn't shut me up though....(insert whistling here).....yep....hmmm hmm hmmmm hmm hmmm...ok now, guess I'll go play Words with Friends....

Hi Pam!

I did go to bed early last night--I get up at 5 each morning. This is the main thread for me. It is where the cool kids hang out:

I will finally get to post a couple of a splash Blue Egg Layer today. I need to get to the computer with Photoshop first though..
Good to know....I wanna hang with the cool kids! I felt like I was standing by the punch with the janitor cleaning the floor around my feet, telling me everyone went to another party! hahahahaha
According to USPS the EO eggs left Portland yesterday, sure hope they get here today or tomorrow and don't have to sit until next week. I'll get the incubator ready today just in case and re-read the shipped egg thread.

Quote: Bangor is SO far away for me. I bought a couple of wine barrels off CL and while I enjoyed the drive it was a long way! But maybe someone closer to Bangor could take advantage of using them. The key is King Feeds minimum is 5 pallets so they can't just bring in a couple of bags. Thank you for the input.

Big Daddy's Mom...not stepping out but I do zip over there to catch up on some of the fun. You can join us too. I am doing a hatch but it's not turkeys and it isn't due on 5/5 but they let me play anyway. It's fun and people are letting their hair down and some of the stuff makes me lol. Plus you learn things about how different farm animals go a courtin. Hmmmm sounds a lot lot here.

DEERLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Status update?????

ETA I switched feeds and wormed at about the same time and the poop tray in the coop is vastly improved! The King Layer Pellet is great. My spoiled bunch misses their crumbles but I told them that we weren't going back.

I finally have hatched a shipped Penedesenca Chick! One was out this morning and the second was almost out.

Sadly the one that is out looks like a pullet....Just kidding you can't tell gender with Black Penes. Also, I am not a Rooster Whisperer like Happy Chooks....

I will post pictures of them tonight.

Hi Pam!!!!

I'm still here too. Come prowl the turkey thread. It's a very casual hatch along. It only has to be a bird (wait...........reptiles are okay too), it only has to be an egg and incubating sometime in the same time period, give or take a week.

We are not real organized, just happy! I was crazy and set 54 turkey eggs!!! But then I already knew I was crazy.

I just completed a hatch of 62 chicks on Tues/Wed. Last night (Thurs) my next hatch started. Six chicks out already and a bunch more pipped. Since there were a bunch of serama eggs, they started early. I didn't have time to do a final candling with chicks already out, so I just locked down everything without a final look. That's about another 90 eggs.

Someone needs to explain to me that when you buy a cabinet incubator that holds 300+ eggs, it doesn't have to run full all the time. Apparently so far I have missed that message.

We took pictures of one of the Splash Blue Egg Layers from the UofAlabama a couple of Days ago. My oldest DD used her new Samsung Smart Phone and it was a chore getting her to email me the pictures.

These lay Blue eggs that look like the Cream Legbar eggs. I hatched 4 Blues and 3 Splash from 9 eggs:

After this picture, she dashed out into the road and under the Ford Escape. Finally she jumped up into the Wheel well and my Middle DD was able to get her.

Silly Chickens....
